Thanks and yeah, he took himself up there by himself. Glad he's doin good now. He eats lots of hot stuff, I think him workin these 90+ hrs are whats bad, and leaving real early and gettin home late are the cause.

I am going to put in my 2 cents worth here.I only had i filter fail me in 40 years of doing my own oil changes.It was a Purolator back in the 1970s and it was about 10 degrees outside. I started my car and the filter went poop.That was the only trouble with any filter I used and I have used all makes.My advice is just buy a name brand and dont worry. I have since used Purolator and will again. I also dont understand all the hate against Fram.I used alot of them with no problems. Will someone please tell me what they did wrong ???

It's not that FRAM did anything wrong, it's that there are better-made filters for the same (or less) money. The FRAM orange can is a mediocre filter at a premium price. The only reason it's as popular as it is is because they spend ludicrous money on advertising and in renting all the available shelf space to keep the competition invisible.

What I REALLY, HONESTLY understand about FRAM is that they used to be really decent filters. Then they started being made by HONEYWELL, which is NOT good. I have no problems at all using a Super Tech filter in my Civic. I will continue to use Super Tech and WIX filters PERIOD. I wont EVER use a fram either. Use champ labs filters at work and used 2 on the civic and no problems whatsoever.


Give me a Super Tech or WIX and I will be fine.

I wouldnt hesitate to buy a ST 7317 if I could find one at my nearby wal mart. Have 2 left, so probably use those then my 9 other WIX 51356 filters. People that would use them if they could get em' for .50 cents are cheapskates period.

I am a big SuperTech fan. Im all about Pennzoil but SuperTech is right there next to it. SuperTech is a fantastic sleeper product. I have used their filters for the last 7 years. The ST4967 is a really well made filter for my yaris. I cant find a better filter for the money. Except purolators. But I can buy 2-3 ST's for the one purolator. I agree with Silver_Civic, SuperTech is better than your typical house brand and hey its SN rated so thats good enough for me.

I wouldn't mind using a SuperTech as long as the pleats around the seam are evenly spaced with the others.

personally i wont use super tech but that is because i get group 7 which is made by purolator for about $2.00 delivered to my shop...
I will however steer clear of e core anything...

Well look at how well OCOD's sell and they suck. Every DIYer needs to browse at some pics of their FRAMs and switch to ST the cheap [censored].

It looked like it tried to blow off the engine.Oil went everywhere and the filter was distorted.Something got stuck it seems.Freak accident
