I am getting really [censored] off and agitated here about the negativity on Super Tech or super tech filters. My father uses wix and Super Tech filters on his two vehicles without incident. Who really cares about slits in the 7317's and if they had/have holes or not! People need to realize one thing that I know: the filters from champ labs, we use at my work, and no I will not tell you my workplace name period. We had one incident where the seam broke, and champ manned up and accepted blame and paid us for a engine also. I am using wix, and goin to use Super Tech filters next oci for bout 3 Oil changes to see. If you dont like the design, smell, look, or whatever of a filter, then just DO NOT BUY IT. Dont complain, whine or tell people a half a**ed story about "I wouldnt use that p.o.s." [censored], I wont and never would use a purolator, m1, pennzoil, or group 7 filter. I use a good quality filter period. I dont want to [censored] anyone off here; I am just REAL SICK AND TIRED OF PEOPLE SMASHING AND BASHING A LITTLE KNOWN THING/S CAUSE THEY HAVE NEVER TRIED THIS FILTER OIL OR THING.

HAVE A WONDERFUL EVENING AND FEEL FREE TO TELL ME YOUR THOUGHTS, OPINIONS, WHINES OR WHATEVER.

i usually buy Super Tech filters, cant beat price...china mart oil is good too

I have used Super Tech filters and thelastone I cut open could have had a better seal on one of the ends.It was not an abused filter and the vehicle is far from abused.

You say that you had one failed filter, that may be only the one that was caught. If you consider the number of failures seen by board members, the real world number could be much higher. While you may have not had many filters with problems, some have and they have the right to tell others of their problems and to warn others that Super Tech has had and may still have problems.

You may get upset but those that come to the board do have a right to be told to be wary of something and I think it is only fair and may even be an obligation for those that have had problems to tell others to be careful. This is a board that is known to be quite accurate and truthful when it comes to getting information about oil and oil filters.

While there may be some that put Super Tech down and have not used them,it is also possible that those that do so have seen pics of failed Super Tech's and have been told by reliable members to be careful.

I also dont see why you have a problem with Purolator or Mobil 1 filters. These are actually good filters and the Puro is especially good for the money.

You go as far as to tell others that if they dont like something to not buy it.I understand that to a certain point but I have to think that if you knew of a questionable product that you would warn others to avoid it,even if you did not use it yourself.

While we dont all get along here and may not see eye to eye,we are friends to some degree and may even have a love hate relationship, maybe I shoud make that a "love to hate" relationship.

Anyway,I think we should warn others to avoid things when there have been problems.

He must be really angry, he's yelling in caps.

Relax Adam, these are oil filters you're getting upset about. Let's keep this in perspective.

Your own advice was to not whine, buy what you like and don't buy what you don't like. Sounds like good advice.

I've been using cartridge Super Tech filters for the longest time in my Grand AM (almost 10 years now) without any issues. WM had a period where they had poor quality filters made in China, but quality improved with filters made in South Korea and Bulgaria. Now for over a year 9018 filter is made in the USA.

and quality is the best I've seen besides AC delco filters.

I'd sure care if those slits where closed up, or if there were holes that where not there when they should have been. It's called "manufacturing quality assurance". I don't buy and use defective products.

I don't ... and I don't need someone to tell me not too.

No offense, but I guess you wouldn't know a good filter if you saw one or knew details about them. You'd never use a Purolator or an M1? ....

Adam,

You seem to have this real dislike for anyone that does not use any ST product.

Chill man, it's just oil and filters. Use what you want and let us use what we want.

Why?

heres a good reason
https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/my-car-beat-up-a-pureone.138825/

my car was having a problem with moisture getting into the engine that i didnt know about. if my engine did what it did to a pureone, and a wix, (you can dig up my cut open wix thread, i dont have time) without me even knowing anything was going on, i'd hate to see what it could have done to an E-core... and furthermore, i'd hate to see what an ecore could have done to my engine

people here have FIRST HAND experience with how bad they are. you cant [censored] with FIRST HAND experience....

yes i know, people also have first hand good experience with them too, but thats obviously not what this thread is about

If you have first hand good experience with these filters in large numbers, do you really think a rant like this is going to earn you any credibility? Just state your facts for us all to use or not and move on. Im surprised your this upset because somebody is knocking Super Tech filters. I have been on oil forums for a while and have seen somebody knocking just about every product made. I dont loose any sleep over it. Not everything is for everyone.

You have had so many different threads about Super Tech we get the idea you like the stuff. Thing is, we are entitled to say and believe what we want. If you don't like it, well....sorry.

Now, lets forget all this ST stuff please. We all know what you think. We will probally not forget either. Shoot, I still remember JCADILLIACMOBILE.

Besides, eh....um...you have like 100 posts...you don't know the whole board yet..yet you are sick of us?
:shurg:

OP - you need to be more consistent with your claims. Here are quotes from all your posts:

I am fine and dandy using my WIX 51356 anyday over a "house brand" filter just due to quality control concerns and quality in general.

I will never use a purolator since my friend last year bought a purolator that said on the filter "made in honduras". That tells me "DONT USE ME". (hmmm, relying omn third party opinion....)

I guess purolator is a decent filter, but in all the years I have used WIX, never had one that wasnt made in the U.S.A. and WIX feels lil better built and heavier to me. Just my thoughts. (what?? see aove quote)

Yeah, I havent had any issues with a wix at all. Yeah, something makes me little leary bout wal mart even havin a filter made for them.

I take peoples talk and opinions for face value and thats all. No more, no less. (no you don't - see two quotes up)

Yeah, think I will stick with the WIX I always use.

Interesting rant given you are all over the place with past posts.......

Hey isn't this the good ole US of A? Can't we all buy and like what we want? I would buy a Supertech Filter & put it on my car...if I were selling it.

Otherwise a Pure One is the best bang for my dollar. I am glad to have found this forum because before I used Fram Tough Guards exclusively. Not to knock Fram as I have had very good luck with TG's ie a 1995 Nissan Sentra running 350K miles and the family I gave it to is still driving it. ~ In the immortal words of Rodney King, "Can't we all just get along"?

Don't get mad. We are here to discuss. If we all felt the same about every oil, filter, whatever...might as well lock down the whole forum.
Millions use the Frams and STs and all that without issues, sure, but we are oil and filter geeks and one need not have an engine seize with a certain brand, to be able to look at it and form an opinion.
