WRONG!

In the USA it is not legal to deny warranty from a DIY oil change unless you can prove it was incorrect. All you have to have is receipts for the correct oil and filter and write the date and miles when changed. Sounds like Canada needs such a law.

yea just like my 2010 explorer w/4.0 sohc, plenty of room underneath no need to jack it up. Oil filter is real easy to get at. It also helps I'm only about 5'5" and about 135#'s all kinds of room. My last couple of vehicles no way, mercury mini vans no ground clearance at all.

Both my 2014 Focus and my wife's 2016 Escape have the bellypan that needs to be removed for an oil change....they have 9 screws each and use a different head on 2 of them (requiring 2 different tools to remove)...a PITA for sure....on the bright side the underside of the engine stays spotless from the shielding.

I bought a set of Rhino ramps for doing this job but I find that they slide...how do you get them to stay in place as you drive up them?

An easy oil change is when you suck out the oil and then just reach into the bay for the filter. No jacks, no mess!

Nice! In a market that seems determined to make DIY care that much more of a pain in the tookus, I guess there's always a lucky one here and there.

Our dodge is easy like that. Slide under and just quickly drain it. The buick sits a little lower, so I have to lift it up to get my frame under it.

However, the oil filter is easily changed from above on the buick, so I can easily swap it independently of oil changes if I so desire. It's a little give and take in our garage.

Fumoto needs to hurry up and sell a valve I can control from my phone!

We had an 04 civic and I hear you. It was probably the messiest oil change to do of any car I owned, all because of that filter location....

Our 09 Scion Xb is actually and easy one, as well as my parents 2.4l caravan. Our Sienna is a slight PITA but not too bad, it will actually be a lot better when I put the longer 3600 filter on there. The worst was our 04 civic, it was impossible to change the filter without making a mess.

I got lucky on mine but purchased a few bags of the grommets from EBay.
My sister got a 2017 C-Max and that's the one I did ( She liked mine). They are orange and in the back when I undid the T-30 screws chunks of grommet came out. A hassle but not a hard fix but who figures you would have to??

On a new car. Ford had a few grommets but luckily for me I had the screws cause they didn't.
What a hassle- other than that it was okay except for the factory over cranked filter. I have a great setup for that.


I'm guessing this is on your Ford C-Max.

My driveway is stone, so they don't tend to slide as easily. Make sure you have the rubber pieces that fit in the underside of the ramps. It helps to keep them from sliding somewhat. I also jam them in as tight against the front tires as I can then drive up real slowly.

I use the same ramps and had the slide
That said that very short slide I find is helpful when you have no other person watching. It tells you to STOP NOW!
I do the same- kick them in place and later chock the rear wheels.

In the case of my Mazda, an easy oil change was when you shove the pan underneath from outside the tire, reach into the bay for the drain plug, and reach into the bay for the filter. No jacks, no ramps, no crawling on the ground, no mess, no panels to remove, and no suction pump to clean or store.

Prius change involves raising the front, crawling way underneath, fighting with 5(?) stubborn dirt-clogged plastic push-pins to let down the panel, dodging drips while removing the filter cap from an awkward position, then having the filter cartridge fall out of the cap and plop into the pan of hot oil.
