Sunglasses and headaches

Hey everyone strange question but figured with such a large audience maybe someone would have valuable feedback.
I want to buy a pair of sunglasses but cannot find a pair that doesn't cause headache's. Seems to be because of them touching/ putting small amounts of pressure on my head near my ear.
I've tried cheap pairs and expensive ones. Does anyone else have this issue and is there glasses that maybe rectify this?

Sounds like you have some nerve or blood vessels that are impinged by the glasses. Maybe some Kareem Abdul-Jabbar style goggles with a strap would work better?

Have you had your vision tested? Last week I went to the eye doc and it's been 48 years since I last went.
I got lucky and it relieved my worries.

Do you wear eyeglasses?
If so, get a pair of cheaper frames at a real optometrist and have 'em fit the temples to your head.
Describe your needs and preferences before going the strap-on route.
Not that there's anything wrong with them, but the look is a tad severe for many situations.

As far as those glasses in post #5...all I can say is, "Living in the material world..."

There's no reason for a well fitted frame to exert pressure on your head.

I got lucky with my sunglasses.
The small optician I've been going to had a nice frame in pale green (like Pentosin CHF-11S) and a similar blue.
I bought the green and the dog chewed them.
I was able to go back and have the lenses popped into the blue ones in 2 minutes.

I have a mild Rx for my eyes. I can get by without my glasses, but I cannot wear non-Rx sunglasses without getting dizzy. I concur with the recommendations above to get your vision checked and get a real pair of sunglasses if needed.

Believe it or not, I have never been to an eye doc of any sort. Never worn anything but sunglasses.

And, get this, during my annual company physical I still test out with 20/20 vision...and I am 60+.

I'm the same as you and So I believe you.

I know what you are talking about, I get it bad while mountain biking for some reason. For that I use super light 3M safety glasses https://www.3mcanada.ca/3M/en_CA/p/dc/v000255908/ very flexible arms that still hold the glasses on.
For driving I need polarized so I just get $30 plastic framed polarized fishing sunglasses out of the fishing section of walmart, and they usually work fine. If not, I heat up the arms with hot water and bend to fit.

I have always had issues wearing glasses/sunglasses my entire life. They would hurt my ears something fierce. Plus headaches. So when I needed prescription glasses I opted for contacts. Then I had cataract surgery on both eyes. No more contacts or glasses as they put corrective lenses in my eyes. But I do need sunglasses now as the sun is just way brighter than it used to be. I went through dozens of different sunglasses trying to find ones that would work well. I finally found Oakley Jawbreakers. Those frames are pretty light and do not cause ear pain or headaches. Well not for me anyway. I also downgraded the lenses to a generic polarized lens. Got the glasses and lenses on Amazon. Wait for a sale or just buy the cheapest color that is available.

There are some styles of Oakleys that have straight legs that go past your ears and curve slightly behind your head. Not cheap but if they work....

How long does it take to get a headache?
It is within minutes.

Ive never had great eyesight. My left eye is 20/200 my right eye is 20/30 the doctor said last time I went (couple years ago) my left eye is so bad my brain has quit using it and my right eye is good enough to not need glasses. My left eye is basically beyond help and my right eye is a soldier 😂😂😂

The bows on some glasses are uncomfortably tight right out of the box. At least in the case of better glasses you can heat the bows with a hairdryer and bend them a bit more open so they won't apply so much pressure to your head. Other common issues are ill-fitting or undersized nose pads that cause impressions, rashes, and discomfort. Nose pads are usually replaceable with different types and other sizes. There are two common types, the type that locks in place via a tab and the kind that requires a small screw.

I am a Maui Jim fan also.... I get the bronze/brown lens.
They make some very light glasses.
Me too, have 3 pairs of the Maui Jim ultra thin glass in different frames and lens color.
Recently sold off a 4th that I rarely wore.

Also one pair of Costa ultra thin that I rarely wear but like.
One Ray Ban, Oakley and Persol in perfect condition but my go too is always the MauiJim’s I chose which one based on what I’m doing for the day including type is sunshine.

I was really upset that a Kering Eyewear bought them out. Now part of a international Kering Luxury group/ corporate owned like every other American iconic brand ☹️

No more independent USA readily available state of the art sunglass companies, really shocking if you think about it and the way of the world … for everything and part of the reason I gave up on all the other brands I’m mentioned here. Maui Jim was still independent

I wear glasses and have found the most comfortable frames for me have been Ray Ban. I have a large head and their frames fit better than most others.
