What's the catch? There's gotta be a drawback somewhere. I've been eating these Halls Breezers in the Cool Berry flavor. Absolutely delicious. Says it's sweetened with glucose syrup and sucrose. Will they wreck my teeth? There's gotta be a negative somewhere.

This may be the start of an addiction?

Your body can't digest and process sugar free. Those molecules are close enough to the shape of sugar that they taste sweet to your taste buds, but they are different, so your body can't process and absorb them. Because of that the sugar-free solution going through your gut will osmosize the water out of your body and into your intestines. For lack of better terms it gives you diarrhea.

As to whether it wrecks your teeth, I suppose it depends on whether or not the bacteria in your mouth can metabolize it. Sugar in and of itself isn't harmful to your teeth, it's the bacteria feeding on it that is.

I will caution you with this: Do some research on the sweeteners used if you are going to be eating them on the regular. Some will cause an insulin response, some won't. If the one's you like are of the variety that will cause such a response, eat it with some food else your blood sugar will drop

You're not supposed to eat any type of corn(syrup, High fructose, or the newest "sugar")

Sugar is not that bad for you, infact, it is needed unlike corn and corn byproducts.

If it has glucose and/or sucrose in it, it's not sugar-free. Sucralose and similar altered sugars can make you suffer from gas and the squirts, if you exceed your tolerance. Also affects your metabolism.

+1
Glucose, also known as Blood Sugar is what your Cells actually Run on.
Sucrose, is better known as table sugar, or Sugar.
Sucralose, or Splenda, is an altered form of Sucrose, that is "non-caloric" simply because the body can't process it.

if you want to see what can happen if you eat too much of some artificial sweeteners, just read the amazon reviews for "Sugar Free Gummy Bears"

Some sugar free candy have a laxative efect if yoy eat too much.

Why do you need to suck on something like that?
It's not candy, it's an oral demulcent used for throat and mouth pain. You'd be better off just not eating any sort of medicine (unless you have health issues) or any sort of candy.

It's junk food. Another use for corn syrup. A little of what you fancy does you good, but munching too many of these bad boys is opening the door for diabetes.

My doctor says that of the mouth tastes sweetness then the brain and guy expect the calories and if the calories aren't there the body engages desire to eat yet again. In other words, unless medically necessesary, eat real sugar and real foods and your body will behave.

Your doctor puts it very nicely. A shame more of us don't listen to the like of him.

Aww, c'mon....corn was the staple grain of the Americas much the same as wheat was through Europe and rice in Asia.

Of course the Olmecs, Toltecs, Incans, Mayans, Aztecs...etc... all had to boil it in lime water to get any sort of nutritional value out of it. If you don't use their process, you can develop Pellagra

At one time I got to sucking on pepermint candy. What happened is every time I had to talk to someone I would tuck the candy beside my back tooth and cheek. I ended up with a $400 filling in that tooth.
