Mainly a question for those that have experimented with substituting LC or FP for seafoam cleaning, but followed the seafoam instructions as per Terry’s post almost a year ago in the Seafoam cleaning experiment thread that was resurrected a week ago.

My main question is if Terry or someone else could elaborate on this experiment as to whether the results with LC or FP or combination of both produced any significant results as compared to seafoam.

Not to be confused with LC and FP directions. This would have to do with sucking in LC or FP through the brake booster or a vacuum line to clean the combustion chamber as per seafoam instructions.

I believe that Terry said that either LC or FP did produce more significant results, yet I would like to elaborate on this topic more. My main concern would be the dosage instructions and application to prevent the engine from hydro lock, and any side effects such as smoking and ect.

If I had an older vehicle with lots of carbon build up I would be experimenting already, but that’s not the case at this time.

If you are carefull you can do this with plain distilled WATER(very small amounts through a large dropper into a intake tube is an awesome cleaner). FP or LC would work as would MMO or any other Stoddard solvent.
Fuel power would probably make a sweet smelling smoke cloud though

and the Fuel power would leave a nice lubricating film.
I would Clean with Water and then kill the engine (as with seafoam) with LC/FP) and let it soak.
Water injected engines have really clean piston cumbustion chambers.

I ran FP3000 for intake and CC cleaning when we were still testing for LCD and it worked great! I forget how many ounces ( not many) were used but it cleaned the heck out of a 1.6 honda,1.8 Nissan,302 Ford V8. Just sucked it into the best source of vac, be VERY Careful not to hydrolock, your on your own. I am less excited about water added to any cleaning unless you are a old ADR from the Navy or recip mechanic in the Airforce!

I have used FP and LC for the same work. LC is a bit thick but works well. FP3000 was the best. Vac line pulled it right out the container.

As Bryanccfshr accurately points out LC/FP60/3000 are so much more lubricious than most any other product out there. Also there is a cleaning aspect that if you can get the product to a dirty carboned area and allow it to rest for say 24 hours will clean safely where others like seafoam will evap out before they can deeply clean. Don't breath the fumes....if you can capture them light em and let me know what color the flame is!!

Too bad the quantity is not known, but some day I will probably have to perform this experiment using low dosages to see what the effect will be.

What I like about PF60 is the fact that it lubes as well, good idea for top end cleaning.

I guess I will just have to wait for FP3000 to come out and experiment with it as well.

Terry have you experimented with FP3000 in 2-stroke applications? I have yet to use FP60 or FP3000 in 2-stroke applications to clean such engines. Considering that I have a bike, two chain saws, and other miscellaneous gardening equipment I just might give it a try as well.

Did anyone here experiment with LC20 in 2-stroke applications, or is LC not recommended to be burned with fuel?

No need for LC in premix 2 stroke oil although Odis does it at about 1/2 ounce LC for a qt I think. Call him and ask 214 929 2704. He is the REAL deal when it comes to using LC/FP ! FP3000 or whatever they are going to call it is EXCELLENT in two strokes. FP60 too. Just premix into the gasoline at 1 ounce per 5 gallons, probably 1/2ounce for 3000 but I am not sure what recommendation Odis is using.

Very nice man and family. I called before last season and got his wife and she gave me his cell phone number because he was out fishing

He suggested the 1/2 ounce per quart LC in the two stroke oil(I use Amsoil)and one ounce FP to five gallons of gas. Very down to earth people with that easy going low key southern accent.

So far so good in my 1995 Merc 200 outboard

I rely heavily that the FP also keeps the fuel fresh during the season and during winter storage especially with the 10% ethanol.

I’d hate to bother people on their days off, especially when they are in the middle of something they like, like fishing. I personally would not like to be bothered as well, I will try to see if Odis will respond to this thread, maybe then I’ll decide to call him.

Is Odis an LC/FP/soon to be FP3000 maniac? Trying every experiment in the book, I like people who besides regular directions bend the rules a little and experiment.

Reason why I asked is because I have a 6 year old 31cc gas trimmer and when I had it opened for a gasket replacement around the exhaust, I did notice lots of carbon build up around the ring. I have used oil to seasonally store the engine, I may now reconsider and use LC instead of the oil.

I can’t wait for the new grass cutting season to start so that by that time I may do some FP3000 experimentations, thankfully I took some pictures for reference as I would like to see that carbon completely removed.

Odis is not on the internet yet nor do I think he would post. He will answer your phone call though and will get back to you after fishing is accomplished.

NO problems with the product leaching into oil unlike many fuel adds it will not harm the oil, engine, bearings, soft metals etc.

BTW Odis is the former owner of LC before LCD bought the formulas and company. I like doing business with him.

Terry,
Thanks for including us Air Force individuals.

As for cleaning with water, it will clean up the carbon in the piston area but will it clean up the ring land area? Using FP and LC would clean up around that better correct?

Rat, you are right the LC/FP will work much better than aqua on the ring land area. Not bad for a jet mech...

You are not old enough to have worked on recips in the AF are you ?

I have been trying to find a old AF test and authorization for C-97 PW recips using LC for cleaning and less oil consumption at high altitude operation. Guys really overlook what a great product this is and it been in use for 50 years! How many chemistries used in cars can say that, heck MMO chemistry has changed that many times in 50 years!

Indeed, great ad. I've wanted to see an older ad for this stuff for a while now. Thanks for posting it, LCD! It is truly a great product.
