I cannot find a source for Kohler Magnum SAE 30 engine oil in NE Ohio -- what would be a good substitute SAE 30 that would have a similar additive package to Kohler Magnum SAE 30 ?

Shell Rotella T 15W-40 is the oil of choice of many yard and lawn tractor owners running the Kohler engines. I've also had success with that oil's SJ formulation in my Courage engines.
Just put Rotella 30WT in my 9HP Command.
For summer Shell Rotella T 15W-40, or Mobil 1300 Delvac 15W-40 would be great oils, they are at any Wal-Mart and they are low cost.
For winter if you are going to run it in the winter Shell Rotella T6 5W-40 (you can also use this oil in the summer, but it is more expensive then Rotella T 15W-40, but it flows well in cold weather.

I used 10w-30 G-OIL 4-Cycle last season in my Kohler powered Husqvarna walk behind mower and it ran great all summer long.
