Kohler Magnum Oil

Based on the info at their site I doubt it's any better than one of the standard HD30's, like Pennzoil, Castrol, Rotella, etc.. Only issue might be price - many times OEM branded oil, which is bottled by someone else anyway, is 2 or 3 times more expensive than a name-brand oil.

It's probably better suited for small air cooled OPE than a regular off the shelf SAE30.

It's tough to generalize and probably wrong to make assumptions.

I remember thinking "who would buy Motorcraft oil?". Here, it's held on a pedestal.

I buy Stihl 2 cycle oil and it works wonderfully.

John Deere Plus 50 oil "seems" to work as well as anything else I have used and my workplace discount makes it price competitive.

At lawnsite.com, a lot of professionals swear that the Kohler 10W30 is the only oil that will quiet their noisy Command hyd. lifter engines. They buy it by the case and are staking their livelyhood on it.

It is a diesel rated HDEO so it "should" be better than an SM oil regarding additive package.

But, who knows. I don't. I wouldn't pay more for it, if other HDEO 30wts. were available cheaper. I might chose it over a SM 30wt., though.

Besides greed, I have to wonder if they price it high to create the illusion that it's better....like Bose speakers.

At least one guy there claims to buy it by the case....does that count?

????? Here in WI most Exmark, Scag, Toros, Hustlers run the Kohler Commands. Some run the Kawasaki's, probably about the same that run Vanguards. The only strange one is Dixie Chopper, they run Generac engines.
