While I agree with Zee on the applications that are base end towards the ground, all of mine are base end up so I don't have an issue with the NAPA 7055, and for me, this filter hits the bullseye when comparing price, performance, construction and availability. Less than $4 during sales, listed as 21 micron capable, built like a tank for its size, and NAPAs are everywhere. WIX are more expensive, and unless you're stealing the NAPA Platinums, they're not worth it compared to the Fram Ultra. I've used probably 20 of the 7055s over the past 5 years, on EJ25s and FB25s.
But I also agree with Al, and I know Zee has a soft spot for Ultra's capabilities... so, you will certainly be able to use the XG7317 with dome end bypass with no ill effects. I use the XG3593A on my EJ25s if I run out of the 7055 filters. But that's because there's room, and base end to the sky.
