Very interesting that we're now going to have Subaru Camrys.

Does that make it a 'Camaru?'

CBD, selling prices are lower than sticker prices on these cars. My wife is replacing her '01 Outback Limited wagon (120k miles) with a new one and emailed all the local dealers asking for their best price on a particular car. (didn't have to drive one, she already had. Simple transaction). She got some pretty hot smokin' prices, though has to be careful of the typical lowball offer on her trade in.

I actually like the wagon okay, and enjoy the way it drives, but to me the sedan is really nice. The Subaru AWD system really works well.

Subaru MAY be moving to Front-wheel drive offerings in the future.

Subaru have always had front wheel drive offerings of most every model, it's just that in some markets they have positioned themselves as a premium AWD brand. Purely a marketing decision.

Yep, they started out as FWD, went to AWD. Many of their "marketing workshops" explore the possibility of offering some FWD vehicles again...that's the basis of my comment that they might go FWD again at some point. Maybe not!

We once had a bad Subie. I'll never buy another car from them.
Bought 6000 miles it started knocking. But it still ran alright. At one point a foriegn sounding man from some office in Denver. Told my wife that taking the engine apart to put the "correct" wrist pins in it was "Just like having your nails done." She felt like he was talking down to her...

After the car came back from the shop. The sound was gone but the car seemed like it had even less power, Which is hard to imagine since it didn't have much power to begin with.
I checked the plugs and it had 2 Motercraft and 2 AC. And they looked reused.
Eventually went back to Honda Civic's because they run forever and could get 40 mpg on the road. An Accord we had is on 5th owner, a Chinese retuarant that one of my sons delivers for.

I've had two cars I "lemon-lawed". One was a VW Jetta with the sewing-machine-smooth 1.8 Turbo, just couldn't get an electric glitch out of the engine management system, so, they bought it back from me. The other was an Accord. First, they replaced the transmission at 2600 miles. Then, the lower end of the engine began to knock. When they offered to put in another engine to match my new transmission, and I refused...they had to buy that one back from me, too.

Still, I can see how a bad experience with a dealer or a manufacturer could sour you on them, at least for a while.

Subaru has always been a niche vehicle. If you ever are unfortunate enough to have to drive through Vermont (picture icey rods from early OCT. - late April that masquerade as Interstate and DIRT roads once you leave the highway), you would think that only Subarus are sold there. I think seeing a SUBARU outside of New England and perhaps CALI is a rare sight. The all-wheel drive was a great concept but the package was small. Remeber the BRAT?

Just paid out the lease on our 2000 Outback Limited 2.5 manual. Had 26 vehicles and it's by far the best. We are lucky we get the real Japanese built version, the U.S version has problems. A new set of KYB shocks fitted a week ago has transformed it. What a company.

I bought a leftover Legacy GT Wagon last March. It is a very nice car and handles better than you would believe. The turbo requires premium fuel, but I get a "rural" 25mpg, which is not bad for the power this car has. The regular Legacy wagon is not a slug by any means, either and gets much better milage on regular fuel. Subaru also recently advertised a dealer installed set of intake and exhaust parts that get the regular motor up to 200 hp, if 175 is not adequate. We didn't get much winter this year, but what we did get was no problem with the AWD.
