Sub Inflation

A tail of two Peanut Butters. Kraft brand peanut butter is very popular up here, and during the inflation run it went from $8 CDN to $12 CDN for 2 Kg. ( multiply by 0.7 for US dollars.

We changed to No Name for $8 for 2 Kg. It must have taken off because No Name moved their price to $10 and Kraft must have lost some sales so they moved their price down to $11.

There are people working full time to look for the point at where a consumer will walk and what it takes to get them back. I’m guilty for paying $11 for Kraft, since it’s only a buck more than No Name. Kraft knows this.

I'm still waiting for this to affect gasoline, and milk.

imho? 12 oz pound packages and 52 oz half gallons are not simply to increase margins. They are to help us to eat less, lose weight, and be more healthy.

(j/k I believe it's to make it more difficult to know the unit price that we are used to)

Went to a local sub shop.
Italian sub is $8.95
I give them a 10 spot and walk

I just went in and did the same and the owner said hold up... they are now $13.95...

Before I get beaten...yes I know they can charge whatever they want and I have no issue with that at all.

But whatever happened to incremental increases? Like a $1 at a time or two.

It was the owner and he acted like a worker shaking his head. But I know who he is and I pretty much know what he did.. he hasn't been working much this year and he got around and saw other places pricing. I see it too but he has a thriving business but those places don’t...

I think a $5 increase is nuts overnight. I think it will be a costly mistake. Who said inflation has flattened out?

Another local pizza place just sold to a guy with new signage saying authentic NJ pizza. . Three topping large regular pizza $28 + tax..
It ain't gonna fly here in backwoods country..
Sounds like a business in financial troubles. Where I live, a ~50% increase in sandwich prices is something we've seen over the past 4 years, not overnight! Very bad planning on the owner's part, and a good way to run off customers.:(

On another note, if you have a nearby Chili's restaurant and like cheeseburgers or grilled chicken sandwiches, they still have one of the best deals around. It's $10.95 including fries and a drink. And you can substitute a side salad or something else for the fries. You could easily spend that much or more at a fast food place, and not be able to sub for the fries.
