Sub Inflation

Sorta shocked it was $8.95 previously. Just checked two local places $11 and $13 for an Italian sub. $13 at the local Subway.

Inflation stings, for sure. Just be glad we aren't Turkey which is the first world country (sorta) with the highest recent inflation rates. 72% in 2022 and 50% in 2023. That said, we're cooking at home a lot more and giving the Tupperware a lot harder workout than ever before.

Let's see... should we have rice and beans for dinner tonight? ...or maybe beans and rice instead?

Carry out food has not been on my agenda for some time now because of the cost. Wage increases will drive these places right out of business.

Minimum wage of $15 an hr. went into effect 1/1/24 in MD. it seems.
No idea what he was paying before.

We went to the same blue collar steak shop for 15 years. It was the same drill. Extra large cheesesteak for same as those tourist traps, and way too much meat, spilling out all over. Best to call ahead instead of showing up and standing for 30 min in a crowded area. Continued through pandemic, and a car crashed into the bldg and closed temporarily. We go last year and hmmm no phone? Get there hmmm nobody waiting? Hmm price went from $18 (not large but xxl) and now $24 and no meat falling out everywhere? Truly said to see a legend fall.

When places make it seem like too much food and prices too low, they will pack their establishments. This was 15 years, not fly by night. But gone today 😡

Then there’s pho. Went up to $9.25 at start of pandemic, now $15 😂
I remember many years back people that worked at GM and others of course would complain about cheesesteaks etc not having enough meat at certain places.

I for one don't like subs and steaks where they are so packed up everything falls off. I used to tell my local place not to do that and they thought I was on dope...lol

Same at McDonald's for my tea.
Extra ice and the girls tell me most order with no ice.. No way....
No ice...yuck...I'm sure the Europeans would think I was on dope too...

The drink prices kill the deals
Mcdonalds wins here...
Great app prices and cheap drinks
I've started getting water when going to Burger King on Wed. for a $3 whopper app coupon. The wife & I split it. That's our splurge but we enjoy the option once in a while. The other day, using app coupon, we got a free large fry w/purchase & we end up buying large fry so two large fries for the price of one.

Many years ago Taco Bell would hit you $3 for a water 💧

Seems like "he" was paying 5 dollars less as that is how much the sub went up, but he wasn't paying anything, you were.

Yup I figured the same thing after I found out MD. mw. Going to $15...
It is what it is but now we know why he didn't just go up a few dollars

Long term inflation causes many businesses to raise prices out of necessity.
Many simply raise prices because they can as their clientele are numb to the
never ending increases across the board on everything they buy.

Looking back, I noticed recently the workforce has been cut in half at this place.
Now I know why. Sadly, they have a stunningly beautiful young gal there that newly arrived from
California. She must have been kept for eye candy or she is kin folk :), but she is as hospitable as a wolverine with rabies.
In your face, rude and obnoxious... but I like my women that way.

I get cheesesteaks at a place that used to be around 6.50. I think they are about $7-$8 now but they charge $.50 for any CC transaction. I went to a smaller place in the next town and got his cheesesteak (granted, it is a little more special with the bacon and hot sauce) but he charges over $15 and there is less meat. Once in a while, I will get it but, for the most part I have started to make my own albeit nowhere near as good as the others. And places now offering cash prices lower than CC prices is BS, in my opinion of course. All of these places took CCs for years and years and only now they want to charge more.

We also have a couple places here that only take one or the other. I get that prices go up, but paying a LOT more for the same thing doesn't sit well with me. A little more, OK I can get it but to pay 50% or more for the same thing. Nah, not for me.
