I just noticed on an instruction sheet that came with one of my PermaCool adapters, "This is a full flow adapter, use at least 1/2" or 8AN (?) hose to connect..." Since I am using 3/8" through a Motorguard filter, should I be concerned? Thanks in advance.

Nope ..no worries. The MG is like a brick wall to flow. Most of your oil will be flowing through that little poppet valve. You could use 1/4 or 5/16 hose and still not have to worry.

If you happen to fall into the marginal realm of higher flow oil pumps ..and experience some pressure issues, you may have to drill a very (repeat VERY) small hole in the sandwich adapter. Did I say VERY SMALL? If you go too big, you'll be drilling, tapping, and plugging it later on.

Most don't have this issue. If you do, whatever you do, don't react impulsively.

Been thinking about the sandwich adaptors.

As they are on the pump side of the oil filter's anti drain back valve, does that mean that when parked, the oil in the bypass filter siphons back through the pump, and the whole system requires recharging (up to the oil filter which is full due to the ADBV)?

I don't think it's an issue. If I've got my head screwed on right (always suspect) the ADBV on the host filter would have to provide a release to allow the siphoning to occur. Most report having to break the canister seal to facilitate pre-change out draining (leave it sit for a few minutes before plucking the roll out).

Even if it did manage to drain back ..the process with gravity as the locomotion would make it slow ..and although many cite a quart as the volume number ..I'd be hard pressed to see that much "free space" remaining with a saturated roll. In a cold start scenario (even 40C) ..I would think that the tp roll would appear like a brick wall compared to the invitation of going through the escape hatch poppet valve. 2PSID isn't much to compel it to go through cold

This is a combo of "so, I've been told" and reasoning. I've never thought about it myself for the smaller units. When I had my MEGA cotton wound filter installed I used (darn expensive) ball checks simply due to the canister holding 4-5 additional quarts of oil and it was mounted atop the engine. I just didn't trust the physics with only an ADBV to prevent siphoning.
