Got a 2016 Nissan NV that I’m looking ahead to put on new studded tires for this winter.

Price and rebates are an option but not at the expense of the safety for the family. 😁

curious what anyone here has had for experience with E rated tires, especially pre-studded or studdable.
Yes, studded are necessary. Our main highway turns to ice for most of the winter. We also get a lot of wet snow here.

Thinking Nokian, Cooper, General, Hankook?

Thanks!

most studded tires are rated E, so they are poor in rain. But good at ice and snow. Personally would choose Hakkapeliitta when it comes to ice and snow
In this question E rating refers to a Light truck tire with an E (10 ply) rating.

I seem to find many studded tires that are not E rated (or at least studdable)

Anyway, I’ll see what local places have for the Hakka LT3 studded but online they are about $300 a piece 😬.
He might be referring to a different E rating

Go for it. I put E rated tires on everything including 245/70R17 General Arctic on a 2022 Acadia
Right now my go to tires on pick up trucks are either Nitto EXOs or Toyo CTs. Both have 3 ply sidewall construction and are pricy.
The new Yokohama GO 7s look very good.

I have a pair of BFG Traction T/A snows with studs, LT245/75R16Es, that have worked really well on 2 fully loaded vans, an E-350 and a Chevy Express 3500.
If you are talking about the TA Commercial Traction it was the best working snow tire known to man, especially when studded. Unobtainium these days though, discontinued/

E rated tires are pretty necessary with the NV. It’s a 6,900# vehicle, essentially a 1 ton rated vehicle with about 2,500# payload capacity.

If anything, I just want the extra tread on the tires.
