Stuck oil filter? Use a pipe wrench...

I was off by a couple of Nm on some of them so sue me. Looking it up in the FSM is the best way like I said. You want to dog this out for 3 pages have at it. I'm game.

You said...

Usually around 12-15 ft-lbs when a torque spec is called out.

Can you provide a link to a preset 12-15lb oil filter torque wrench. I would suspect if that is the "usual" there would be plenty of them.

That filter torque wrench was specifically for Honda P-gasket filters (some of them anyway - Ref post #58 which shows a torque spec = 15~18 ft-lbs on a Honda OEM filter. It's not to be used on every filter known to man. Guess you've only seen certain model P-gasket Honda filters and have only seen Honda service manuals.

The statement you made in post #50 about 7 ft-lbs being the most you've ever seen does not fit all oil filters like you made it sound, because it does NOT apply to all oil filters. I proved that ... so sue me. 😆

Here's an old tool called a Filter Fang.
It work wonders in a jam.
If there's access on a crushed filter you can literally tear thru the can
and element to reach the base.
