All good suggestions. I have personally used a chisel and good sized hammer on the base plate before. I have not had to do that since getting this, and a 3/8 flex head, bent handle, snap on ratchet....
. It took a pair of mint vice grips locked in the holes of the end cap and a lot of elbow grease, but I got it off. I replaced it with a Supertech 3387, (with a well lubed gasket), and filled her up with 5 quarts of Super-tech 10W30.
I'll have all of the loose ends of the intake job done tomorrow, so I'll post how she runs. After I run her about 1k, I'll change the oil again, and probably use a PF47 and Mobil 5000 10W30.
I have to say that I like the Mobil 5000 oil. I changed it in my Uncles PT Cruiser and it is doing well @ 3000 miles. Since he has to change the oil @ 3k for warranty reasons you can not beat the everyday price of $9 for 5 quarts.
