This, and maybe some heat.Pipe wrench and your foot.
You need to get a wrench on the nut to loosen it. Whacking the tie rod with a hammer won't do it.Soaked it in PB blaster overnight, tried whacking the outer tie rod with a hammer... still not budging. What to do?
I'm aware of that. blunt force is being used to loosen a frozen/rusted/corroded chassis fastenerYou need to get a wrench on the nut to loosen it. Whacking the tie rod with a hammer won't do it.
Torches!This, and maybe some heat.
Exactly right. Was also replacing control arms and sway bar links, hence removal of the steering knuckle. It's unclear what the OP is trying to do. It sounds like both the outer end and the jam nut are still in place but the knuckle has been removed.
Did you... get 'er done?Exactly right. Was also replacing control arms and sway bar links, hence removal of the steering knuckle.
Yes, I put the knuckle back on, stuck the tie rod end back in. Used a 3/8" flare nut crowfoot 19mm attached to a breaker bar. Came off without much trouble. Thanks.Did you... get 'er done?
