Strangest things found in your car

In my junk '78 Fairmont someone left one of those "portable" hand sewing machines you used to see on tv within a few minutes of the commercials for the record vacuum and the cutter that made drinking glasses out of old pop bottles. Not me, but a bodyguy at the shop I used to work at found a sex toy in the trunk of the car he was repairing. Supposedly the owner came and griped because they had been "found out" or something.

Long ago, shortly after I bought the 1957 Chevy(Bel-Air, 2-dr HT- talk about cars I shoulda kept!

), I found a few things under the front seat. A key that fit nothing, another 4-track tape to fit the car's working Lear 4-track player, and a hunting knife w/sheath. The knife was marked "Solingen Steel", blade about 5 1/2" to 6" long, sort of thick from side to side, sort of narrow from cutting edge to spine, near-full-length "blood groove"/fuller, with a white & black bone handle. (A real "frog-sticker", exactly the kind of knife old George L. Herter said you shouldn't get- but hey, it was free!

) Knife was in VG-Exc shape, sheath was pretty bad with pulled rivets & rotten thread. Not sure what ever happened to that knife, it was gone within a year or two- but I do remember it sharpened up real nice & held the edge well.

**Re: 4-track- that's not a mistake kids, before there were 8-track tape players there were 4-track players.

...and then there were 4 track players again. The "cassette" tape was a 4 track.

I don't miss either technology at all...

When I was 19, I got back from long delivery run at my dad's business. After the run, I got out of the truck (E350 cube box van) and noticed something under the seat....a cap of a bottle. It was a 750ml bottle of booze. 1/4 of it was consumed. I felt that 'feeling'...you know...the one where you feel soooo lucky ...cuz if I got stopped the cops would have locked me in the slammer for underage drinking and driving a commercial vehicle.

I broke the da** bottle tossing it into the garbage bin. One of the drunks I worked with could have given me a bad driving record for the rest of my life. I still count my blessings that nothing happened on the road that day...

Never found anything of real interest in any of my vehicles. In my old 1980 Toyota I bought from my brother I found an unopened pack of cigarettes under the seat. In my 1997 F150 I found a key that belonged to another vehicle and a bunch of receipts, other than that the previous owners seemed to have cleaned out the cars pretty good before they sold it or traded it in.

That reminds me of my old Altima, the previous owner was Korean and heading back to Korea, hence why she sold the car to me. There were some notes in the door's little pocket written in Korean but I couldn't tell what they said, I believe they were directions to somewhere, as I recognized one of the English characters being a highway. She also gave me a cool pendant I hung from my parking brake. She left a few of those little emergency triangles in the trunk as well as one of those lugnut wrenches with 4 different sizes on them, shaped like an X.
