My E30 had plates "DVS 30E" when I bought it.

Then when I started buying parts for it, I found that it had an E21 chassis number...hmmm...after the hail got to it, I sold it for parts.

there's a lifted 80 series cruiser in town "RUNOVA"

Im sure, well I hope... they were a podiatrist, haha.

In this area, there is a 5-series with the plate "FUTDOC"...I figure he's a podiatrist. Also saw a Mustang with "2THDOC"...yes, it was parked at a dentist's office.

Seen recently: NH plate on an RX7, "NOPSTNS".

People still do this, but usually not with GM cars.

Usually it is applied to Japanese cars. Certain versions of the RWD Corolla might have AE86 or 4AGE on a license plate. If they can't get that kind of license plate at the DMW, they get a fake Japanese license plate with the car or engine code on it, then mount it to the front of the car. AE86: code for the car model. 4AGE: code for the engine.

Medical people love to advertise their professions sometimes. Around here it's people with RN custom plates. They want everyone to know they're nurses. Especially cops lol

Seen on Chevette leaving lot after local orchestra concert in NJ, circa 1980:
TUBA
Yes, a tuba was in the hatch, pretty well filling it.

On Mercedes in small boondocks town in southeastern NC:
MOMSBENZ .
