LOL, I went to Hawaii last year for about a week. Not surprisingly, I didn't see a single out of state plate the entire time I was there.
I have "Early American" plates on my Honda Accord. Most states have "antique vehicle," "classic vehicle," "historical," etc for old cars. CT called theirs "Early American" for some reason. It's a little weird having them on a Japanese car (although it actually was built in the US). I've had a few people notice them and say, "Dude, seriously?" I just smile and say, "Yep, she's a classic!"
CT finally discontinued the Early American plates and replaced them with Classic Vehicle plates, but I still have the Early American ones.
LOL. Here in Hawaii, cars imported to the islands from the continental US of A or cars purchased here are required to have local HI plates after 30 days. Hence, there are only a handful out of state plates and temporary plates.
When I drove my MK4 VW Jetta 2.0, I wanted to tag it with a vanity plate that read "2 SLOW" to poke fun of my car's engine dubbed "2.Slow". But, then the car was actually quick for my standards.
