There is a VOA, but its a few years old.

Maybe the formula has changed ?

Tried to find the VOA, but my dial up is not cooperating. I think it's in the VOAs a Whole Bunch thread. But I have a hard copy. It was done by Butler Catapillar Labs (member Stinky Peterson, RIP) in March 05. Basically the only significant items (all else 0 or 1) were:

Calcium 1371 ppm
phosphorus 1814 ppm
zinc 1959 ppm
viscosity @ 100c 108 cSt
Ferous debris 31

If you want a thick oil with lots of additives, why not just use a diesel oil?

Nothing wrong with that.

Is this the Blue bottle or the Red bottle VOA?

I imagine pipe corrosion/scale in processing plant piping and/or metal wear in the pumps used to move it around.

What is stronger oil?

STP is mainly brite stock to thicken oil plus some ZDDP for no particularly good reason.

As said above, if you want thicker oil, buy thicker oil for the same price as the recommended oil for your car. If you want oil with more ZDDP, buy a dual-rated diesel/gasoline engine motor oil.

Right and wrong.

With a 4-5 qt fill it's perfect(Red STP). No harm to the balance of the oils additive package. Probably the only one anyone should use due it being tried, true, and tested for decades. Stay away from these so called ZDDP boosters. They only concentrate on the levels of ZDDP. To much ZDDP is NOT beneficial and can be harmful. The STP is balanced as to not harm the oils additive package.

I totally do not believe in STP Oil Treatment. A person would be much better off just using a thicker oil. For example if your car or truck engine burns oil use thicker oil at least in the summertime. Or try a high mileage oil like Valvoline MaxLife.

It will increae it another grade on the average.

The problem comes in cold weather since the OCP has a bad habbit of worsening the pour point, cold crank, and the Brookfield visosity.

STP blue bottle is nothing more than an oil thickener with a bit of ZDDP.
