Which again leads to why? As alluded to, best 'speculation' I got, since Hyun/Kia spec for many vehicles and their aftermarket OF warnings, AZ STP decided to stay away.

So Hyun/KIA encourage consumers to use only OEM oil filters? Who is their OEM supplier?

Interesting you mention Hyundai. A couple days ago I saw a Hyundai SUV. Not sure what model. It looked newer as in probably not older than two or three years max. As it drove down the street a plume of white smoke emitted as though the piston rings were completely shot. I thought how could a vehicle this new be neglected that quick? Or could it be quality issues?

Producto de is spanish for product of and EUA is the abbreviation for estados unidos de America which is united states of America. However the order of the words can change with Spanish so a literal translation would be "states united of America" but that's considered proper. But it did say product of usa right above it.

Yeah, there's been several tsbs over the years warning of issues with using aftermarket filters. Some of the aftermarket makers like Prime iirc and others have their own tsb about it which have been posted here. H/K actively "encourage" OEM filter use. I'm not 100% sure who's making it currently, but Mann of S. Korea has made them in the not too distant past.
 
Interesting. I looked multiple times following shelf order by filter number and found no 9688 or slot. I thought it odd since it is a popular application. Checking just now online, website shows no reference to S9688XL either.¯\_(ツ)_/¯


From that description I couldn't identify who's making the XL there. Champ doesn't use a silicone sealing gasket, while they have used louvers, XLs have been ecore, at least here. PG made uses majority silicone sealing gasket but with holes in center tube. Date code should tell though, if it says "product of USA" it's Champ made.
Seems the premium guards are trickling in. Found a few at another store. Mix of what I think are champ and premium guard. The champ have louvers, silicone adbv and a nitrile gasket.
 
@Sayjac - I stand corrected. The row i saw was labled "9688" but may have been filled with another application's filter model. I just checked my local store, online.....

Actual STP part number for KIA is S2808XL or S2808, the 80mm diameter 15 flute can is the one you want which matches the OE size

The 9688 is more or less multivehicle size made by fram and champ that is smaller in diameter but works as well. I measured a bypass spring opening pressure to about 25 PSI posted a few months ago.

A bit surprised about louvered Champ STP XL, been ecore locally for some time here. But Champ has used louvers for a long time. As noted, have never had/used a silicone sealing gasket, nitrile yes. Only found one PG made XL seen here, not enough to say locally change over in process.

That is right! I had completely forgotten STP OFs unique in use of 2808 as the number for the 9688. I should know because years ago(2012) I used and c&p a Champ Labs STP S2808 with clicker type bypass, and a round (not P-type) sealing gasket. That explains why no 9688 in AZ STP. (y) Interestingly 6 years later a Super Tech ST9688 was posted using same Champ clicker type bypass.
