Howdy Folks,

AutoZone have their oil change deals, I purchased five quarts of Pennzoil Platinum Ultra 0w20 and a STP Extended Life Oil Filter for $37.99.... The filter is new old stock STP Extended Life l Filter made in the USA, The older STP filters have the nylon cage and New models are made in China, What company use to make the made in the USA nylon cage extended life oil filters?

The topic Champ Labs made AZ STP XL is what is sold at AZ stores locally and has been for quite a while. In my observation, it's basically the now discontinued Super Tech MP series filter with orange instead of blue silicone adbv. Last time in AZ (not long ago), I saw no evidence of a change over to PG made XL filters. I have to recycle some oil at AZ, so I'll check again and update.

So just checked, and Champ Labs made XL still what's sold at nearby AZ. I did manage to find one PG made XL 7317, but that was among many CL made XL. Looked for the popular 9688 application but no joy in the XL nor standard blue. Wonder if they are avoiding it because of Hyun/Kia aftermarket oil filter concerns. Anyway, not enough indication yet to say local AZ changing to PG made for XL

What is (where is) EUA?

Nevermind, Googled it:
Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, The Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, and Sweden.

Yep Champ Lab made here. Depends on your state. Others are PG made.

In my local stores in north central Ohio are champ made still I think, have silicone adbv and seal ring but have louvers inside, no round holes or e core.

EUA is Estados Unidos de America.

The one near me has tons of 9688 in both blue and XL. All pretty recent stock.

I just got home from my local Autozone and here are some pics of what I found...

Nice filter, Different than the STP filter I purchased today. I like the silicone gasket/oring, That's the oil filter I thought I would get with the oil and filter deal

Interesting. I looked multiple times following shelf order by filter number and found no 9688 or slot. I thought it odd since it is a popular application. Checking just now online, website shows no reference to S9688XL either.¯\_(ツ)_/¯

From that description I couldn't identify who's making the XL there. Champ doesn't use a silicone sealing gasket, while they have used louvers, XLs have been ecore, at least here. PG made uses majority silicone sealing gasket but with holes in center tube. Date code should tell though, if it says "product of USA" it's Champ made.

@Sayjac - I stand corrected. The row i saw was labled "9688" but may have been filled with another application's filter model. I just checked my local store, online.....

Which again leads to why? As alluded to, best 'speculation' I got, since Hyun/Kia spec for many vehicles and their aftermarket OF warnings, AZ STP decided to stay away.

Was it one of those garbage AI generated answers because it sure looks like it. Apparently there's some way to disable it though I don't know how to but I'd like to.

Producto de is spanish for product of and EUA is the abbreviation for estados unidos de America which is united states of America. However the order of the words can change with Spanish so a literal translation would be "states united of America" but that's considered proper. But it did say product of usa right above it.
