Still own an old car you bought new?

I think my inherited 91 Marquis qualifies. My dad bought it new, but I took care of it from day one. It is my daily driver with 97K.

Otherwise I'm a used car buyer.

Okay, I'll bite: I have two currently:

2003 Cavalier-Bought it for the wife in the summer of 03 to replace her 95 Plymouth Neon, which was on it's 2nd head gasket. It's just passed 70k with just the usual, save for the fuel pump that died a few years ago (common issue for the year)She is not easy on car either, and at times can take a beating. For it age, it still looks good and shiney (save for a rust spot) and the Ecotec still runs smooth and strong. Been on a diet of M1 since 6k (expect the last OCI of PP)

2004 Cavalier- bought this one 8 months later. Also been flawless, granted it still has under 20k (due to a close commute)
It was later to syn than the other, running on what syn was on sale.

THe Cobalt has been in the family since new, and has been good as well at 50k.....

My GF has had her 2002 Cavalier since 9/2001 and it now has around 102,000k on it. Ive maintained it the whole time with mostly Mobil 1 5w30 synthetic and mechanically the only thing that has failed is 1 fuel pump and both outer tie rod ends. It is the base Cavalier w/2.2 ohv & 5-speed manual trans. Still averages 26mpg and uses no oil. Been a great little car.

My 1997 Malibu 133,000 miles was bought new by my dad, I did all the maintenance on it and I bought him from him in early '01. The early model Malibus were known to be one of the more problematic cars, but mine hasn't been too bad at least not until recently. I only had to put an alternator on it, and strut mounts until recently. But in the last year and a half I had to do more repairs, mostly front suspension work-lower intake gasket, water pump, front stuts, outer tie rods, a leaky steering rack that had an improperly done recall, and front springs. It really hasn't been too bad since most of all that came after year 12 and -118k miles and it runs and drives good. It seems to be common that once you start getting much over the 10 year mark and past the low 100k miles more repairs start popping up, at least for vehicle exposed to cold, salt, rough roads and lots of city driving and short trips.

Still driving my 1970 Camaro that I factory ordered. Its been a great car and always fun to drive.

I ordered my 1995 318ti Club Sport in August 1995. My salesperson had to talk Munich into building it without a hole in the roof(even though the sunroof was listed as an option). I took delivery in November 1995. It served as my primary track rat up to 2007, although it lapped Road Atlanta a few times in 2009. It averages 26 mpg in suburban driving and will average 32 mpg at an 80 mpg cruise- it returns 15 mpg or better on the track.
As for repairs, I've replaced the serpentine belt idler pulleys, the brake light switch, the thermostat, and a heater hose junction. I replaced the battery in 2005 as a precaution. That's it. Running costs have averaged @5 cents per mile, and that number includes four sets of track rubber. I added the M Technic rear spoiler(a Fathers Day gift from my wife and son), a UUC Motorwerks RK II shift knob and clutch pedal bushings, a braided SS clutch hose, and a Turner/Conforti chip. It cleans up pretty good for a 15 year old sled:

2003 Elantra (wife's car) - bought new in 2003. Daily Driver.
currently about 156k miles. Zero repairs to date. Still a very solid drive. very good MPG and still (to me) looks better than later generations of Elantra.

Other 2 cars were bought used.

Both the Civic and MPV have been bought brand new and are extremely reliable. These 'old' horses have paid me back 1000 fold.

We bought the Tracker new, and I guess its becoming an "old" car. Its been pretty good with just minor stuff needing to be repaired, but some of the seals on the transmission and transfer case are weeping abit... So that could be expensive as I don't think I can replace those myself.
It gets good mileage for a 4x4, 24-30mpg, depending on what your doing, but the next 4wd we get will have a bit more space inside.

111,000 on my 02,Bass Boat towing,V6 Accord. Routine maintenance except for 2 broken motor mounts at 100k. I use only Honda parts. Best economics for all of us to keep our cars as long as possible. "When you've got to pay.....Delay!" Lol.

Still driving a 2000 Ford Taurus (221K) purchased new on November 4, 2000. It is my daily driver and I put 130+ miles/day on it. Other than regular maintenance/tires, only things replaced are a starter and I put a used a/c compressor on this past August. Still gets 28 plus on the highway and uses no oil. Wife still yells to trade it and I still continue to drive it. Hoping that it and I can retire together (four more years.)

Great first post but we gotta have pics.

I bought a 2007 Toyota Yaris new. Today I've got 103,300+ miles. So far spent $0 on repairs. I should get another 100k miles easy. I follow the book with maintenance, except for oil changes. I use 0w-30 most of the time, and go at least 7,500 miles on the oil. It burns NO oil, and still has the original brake pads. I shall keep this little car until it drops dead.

Well, I don't know if you consider a 2005 Grand Caravan "old" or not. I purchased mine new and it has approx. 130k miles. New struts, tie rod ends, etc. Just replaced the alt, batt, and water pump all at the same time.

I plan to keep this vehicle anothe two years, minimum. If it is still running well after that, I'll continue to drive it until it dies, or it will be an "in town" car for cake deliveries only or my kids school car.
