Stihl MS 311 engine swap

Got these two in the other day. One has a good handle and frame but junk engine main bearings. Failure looks to be poor air filtration as the intake was loaded with sawdust. The other one has a broken frame from being dropped or a tree dropped on it. Motor looks good in this one. My job, make a good one. New ring set and crank seals are on the way. New Air filter as well.

Consider it a frame swap. It sounds like the one with a good frame was set aside due to engine problems so you should not use any of those engine parts unless you have to.

I have 311 in the lineup. It's been a good, reliable powersaw for a clamshell.

The 311 got assembled today with new piston rings and crankshaft seals. Sounds as it should but it does need a new spring for the oil pump drive. The drive from the other saw was bad also. Odd.
