Stihl 4-mix tip for cranking that works

I've run Stihl 4-mix for 20 years and from time to time I've had to pull the plug to see if the reason it wasn't cranking was because it was flooded. Or not. What a pain! Even used starting fluid to spray the plug. Well, I discovered a way just this year that eliminates the choke. Not sure about super cold weather but anyway consider this if you wish. Prime the bulb slowly 4 or 5 times or until well-primed. Squeeze the trigger 8 or 10 times. No choke necessary in most cases. Pull the rope. Presto. My br800 always cranks on first pull. Fs131r might require choke but even then 2 pulls max. Works for me, and it surely beats choke, no choke, flooded or not, yank, yank, get ticked.

The carb in mine (KM110R) does not have an accelerator pump, but that may vary by model. What I do for easy cold starts is use the choke but slowly turn it off immediately after the engine starts. That requires keeping one hand on the choke as I pull the cord with the other hand.

My BR 600 starts with 3-pulls of the rope when cold without using the primer or the choke. Warm start, 1-pull.

If I want it to bark off in 1-pull cold, I can use the choke, but that usually results in a puff of blue smoke from the overly rich condition.
