Oil for Stihl 4-mix questions....

... Even with those changes my br800 will turn the plug black with 5 minutes of idle time ...
I run my BR600 at full throttle and lock it there to operate at optimal combustion temperature and not form carbon deposits. On start up, I'll let it idle for 20-30 seconds, then gradually accelerate to full throttle and set the lock. On shutdown, I release the lock, deaccelerate slowly to idle, hold idle for 15-30 seconds and shutdown. The OEM spark plug is set to 0.020 inches. Lubrication ought to be optimum at constant full throttle and unburned fuel contamination should be minimal to non-existent if the high-speed mixture is adjusted properly.

Dang, what you doing with that thing needing it to run wide open like that? My BR600 will move me backwards at WOT and rearrange everything the air stream touches. It is a bit overkill for a homeowner, I got it off a landscape trailer because it wouldn't come up to full speed, one valve adjustment later it was a full up round again.
I bought a 450 for the other house because the 600 just isn't necessary.

I initially bought a BR600 to move pine needles which requires air velocity. I also bought an optional add-on nozzle that increases exit velocity and turns exit air direction 45 degrees so that air skims over rather than blasting directly into landscape rock. The tube is at maximum extension so I can direct air to a point as much as 3-6 feet beyond the tube. Occasionally, I clean dirt and pods out of landscape rock by blasting air directly into the loose upper quarter to half inch rock that overlays hardened fines which form an impenetrable crust. I'm 6'-3" and 200 lbs, so the BR600 doesn't push me around.

I had a br420. Great little blower. Got an unsolicited br800 for Christmas. Gave the br420 to my son. Now all I have is a br800. I make the most of it and sometimes it's a lot, but it keeps me from having to take so many steps. 👏

I run Stihl Ultra in my BR 600 and FS 91 R. I mix one 6.4 ounce bottle with exactly 2.501 gallons of Sinclair 91 octane which contains up to 10 percent ethanol. I'd run ethanol free if I could get it. The Ultra oil has been excellent. Engines run super clean.

Turned out to be sorry gas.

My Stihl 4 mix trimmer is super fuel sensitive. I had some 2 stroke I mixed myself, non ethanol, and it ran perfectly in my saw and blower. The 4 mix just didn’t like it…idled poorly, died. I took it in and it ran perfectly on Stihl pre mix. I bought a couple cans of VP Racing pre mix and it now idles great.

My fs131r is not sensitive at all but my br800 is sensitive. Even a change in 2 cycle oil can cause a need to adjust the high speed needle. I've found a place that, so far, has had good non-ethanol 93 octane. Mixed with Saber or Motorex 2t it is a sure bet. The carb tool is Stihl Specialty Octagon Shape 5910-890-2314 if you need one for br800.
