Me neither until I googled it. Are they just grasping at straws hoping they can bandaid an engineering defect until the thing makes it out of warranty?

No snake oil will cure or even patch that defect. I really don’t know why no one can make cams and roller lifters that hold up. Chevy 5.3l V8’s, Dodge hemis, Cummins 6.7l, and I repaired a Harley EVO with a bad cam and roller lifters. The Harley problem is not really that prevalent, but the rest are. The worst part of this is the cost of repair. You’re looking at $5-6000. If the vehicle is out of warranty, you’re pretty much screwed! That will fix the valve problems, but the metal that traveled through the engine could ruin a bunch of other parts that you can’t really anticipate. There has to be a better way of making a roller lifter bearing that will hold up to the application.
The before and after on that piston is very difficult to believe LOL.

What’s the trade for NOT doing roller lifters?? Downside?
Engine noise and valve lash adjustments. I’d still rather have flat tappets.

We did in the 80's and 90's and even early 2000's. The HEMI's before VCT was added didn't have lifter problems. I'm rather confident that it's a materials and QC issue due to offshoring.

Interesting that this TSB, assuming it is legitimate, is for South America. I wonder if there is a similar one for other markets?
I believe that to be an error and that it should be for North America. Would the NHTSA post this info if it was only for South America? I can’t imagine this only applying to SA.

Yes I did read, and posted, that it was a product of Germany. Did not see the sds, until now, thanks.
