Government mandated to reduce noise emissions. Ram 6.7 is the only Cummins 6.7 with the hydraulic lifters. All of the other commercial and industrial 6.7 Cummins engines are still sold lifters. Why did they change to hydraulic lifters? Always have to fix what's not broken.
They're getting out of hand with this nonsense. Guess I'll just keep my older 6.7Government mandated to reduce noise emissions. Ram 6.7 is the only Cummins 6.7 with the hydraulic lifters. All of the other commercial and industrial 6.7 Cummins engines are still sold lifters.
The op is talking about the newer 2019+ with hydraulic lifters. Don't think you can adjust those. What year?
I ran the overhead on mine and took care of alot of noise. Couple valves were way loose.
I’m kinda in the same situation as you as far as the dealership goes. I bought my truck from a dealer 15 miles east of me. They had the truck that I wanted so I got it. After several trips to them trying to get an updated recall done, the service manager said they couldn’t do anything about it and for me to contact Chrysler Customer Care and gave me the number. I called and explained the problem I was having. He tried to call them and it kept going to voicemail. I told him that was the response I was getting so he called a different dealer that was 15 miles west of me. They said we’ll take care of it. Be here at 8:00 in the morning. I left the new dealer at 8:30 with the updated recall done and have since had 2 more recalls done in and out with zero issues. I expressed my concerns about buying the truck elsewhere to the service manager and he told me to not let that bother me because it didn’t bother him.Haha yeah, I’m glad it’s documented though. I will be honest, this dealer has been good to me considering I did not purchase the truck from them. I had previously dealt with a dealer who was atrocious. A lot of dealers, local to me, don’t want bothered because I didn’t buy the truck from them. I bought this truck in Louisiana and had it shipped to PA.
80 THOUSAND? Holy crap!I don’t believe it’s a lifter issue; but, if it is I’ll trade it in and take my loss. I don’t want an 80k dollar truck that was torn into with less than 10k miles on it. I’ll go back to a 5.7 Tundra. It’s going to the dealer Monday. I also got the uoa back (not that a uoa is a superb diagnostic tool) and all looked fine minus the elevated potassium; I posted the results.

That sounds like excellent service! I still get asked if I bought it there, on occasion, being that the truck has been there multiple times for warranty work. I look at it like this, I bought a mass produced truck that they both sell and service. If they had what I was looking for, at the price I paid, I gladly would have purchased it from them and saved the shipping cost; but they didn’t.I’m kinda in the same situation as you as far as the dealership goes. It's a 75 year old design.I think it was more of a refinement. The Duramax and Powerstroke engines are much quieter and more refined than the old B series based engine.

Say that last part again??? I thought most people on here think CK-4/SN rated oils are the holy grail?Basically they are nitpicking against the diesel engines. Mandating higher fuel efficiency while mandating higher emissions standards that reduce efficiency. Motor oils that protect engine parts are being numbed down to protect emissions systems parts.
Check out some of the CJ4 or CI+ hdeos at the ZDDP levels. CJ and CK came after ULSD because the other oils were playing havoc with the DPFs. A deleted diesel can run just about anything that will burn for fuel and just about any kind of oil is sufficient.Say that last part again??? You can't really burn anything in these newer diesels, but the argument is that they've replaced zddp with other antiwear additives. What we should really be doing is hounding the oil analysis companies to start showing what those are, because all these uoa tests everyone posts only show half the picture.Check out some of the CJ4 or CI+ hdeos at the ZDDP levels. EPA has also created a new update for increasing Biofuel usage increasing every year. Biodiesel does not play well with the DPF in my truck and also decreases OCI length. You can't really burn anything in these newer diesels, but the argument is that they've replaced zddp with other antiwear additives. I ran some bio diesel from buccees once and I swear the exhaust smelled like mcdonalds French friesEPA has also created a new update for increasing Biofuel usage increasing every year. Biodiesel does not play well with the DPF in my truck and also decreases OCI length.
Also no ethanol increase.
