Valvoline Premium Blue Extreme 5w40 UOA - high potassium thoughts

@ 6.7 CTD did the dealer find out what the noise was you are hearing on your truck ?
They just called me about 30 minutes ago. They said they heard the noise, attempted to discern where the noise is coming from, and that it may be normal. They said they can’t throw parts at it guessing where it is coming from; which I understand. I said well, it didn’t do it for the first 9,300 miles….they said they documented it for future reference. They told me to continue to drive it because there are no drivability issues and no codes. The tech noted the noise as normal egr function on my invoice.

I primarily used VPB and Napa 5w40 in my Dmax, never saw potassium in maybe 10 tests.

You really dont have to be leaking much to make 54 ppm.....that is far less than a drop, maybe undetectable in the tank

Interesting, these trucks are quirky to say the least. How high was your potassium on your uoa if you don’t mind me asking. I’m sure I looked at it, if you posted it, but don’t recall specifics.
Lots of little 3/4" 3" long hoses on the engine where the clamps can leak.

Yeah definitely, I will reassess the potassium on the next sample. I haven’t found anything loose and suspect maybe it is flux from egr cooler/ oil cooler/ intercooler after reading further into it. Who knows, time will tell.
