I agree it looks like competition for new Rav4. 2026 will be only hybrid option. I will be interested to see how Toyota prices that one.Why would you have a cherokee compete with a trax?
you have compass for that?
As SwampSurvivor mentioned, longitudinal engine is the way to go.Yeah, it's not going to go BOF, it's going to be more like a junior JGC, which, based on the success of other marques in the segment, is what's desired. BTW, the 5.7L JGC's have 4-low, but the SRT's don't, lol. I have variable power splitting, and 1st gear is pretty low (4.7:1) as are the pots (3.7:1) and it'll pull the **** out of the world if I put a trailer behind it, but I assume they didn't think anyone was going to use 4-low on the "race" oriented offerings, so it wasn't available.
The proper trim renegade was actually pretty capable off road. Short wheelbase, really good break-over angles. As SwampSurvivor mentioned, longitudinal engine is the way to go.
I’d be happy with it if that were the case. And a real 4L.
I have a family member with a Renegade that’s got the fake 4x4, it’s just a glorified AWD. Dumbest little thing.
Respectfully, why not price the vehicle realistically at its actual transaction price rather than create an expectation that your vehicles will be heavily discounted ? I am reminded of those Joseph a banks radio and tv adds where they would say a suit “costs” $750 but that if you buy it today it is $350 and you get three ties, two shirts and a pack of bubble gum on the way out the door. I’m making up the details — you get the idea — but it damages your brand to market that way.Nice to have a senior Stellantis product manager on our site, much appreciated.
You been holding out on us?
Yeah that was a little harsh, that's more a RAM thing than Jeep at least here. You work at a dealership right? Have you seen the specs of this new Cherokee?Nice to have a senior Stellantis product manager on our site, much appreciated.

Do I think this is exactly the product they need?
All trad brands do it. Why pick on one?Respectfully, why not price the vehicle realistically at its actual transaction price rather than create an expectation that your vehicles will be heavily discounted ? True but not to that degree. 25% is a lot. Also my point is from the perspective of owning a Ram 1500. I like the brand and want them to succeed but in marketing you want to be competitive but also protect the value of the brand. All trad brands do it. Why pick on one?
25% is a guess by another poster. Not written in stone. I'm seeing 10% off some products, maybe 15% combining offers. On all trad brands.True but not to that degree. 25% is a lot. I thought someone who posted the info worked for Stellantis and had good info. This is one of those things where I am happy to be wrong. My dad has one of those “POS” 2009 Jeep GC’s with 110k relatively trouble free miles (did a water pump and some pulleys recently, and it has a slow rad leak that will need to be addressed at some point, but nothing unusual for the age) so I write this from the perspective of someone who likes the brand.25% is a guess by another poster. I agree with cars getting expensive, and I'd personally just like more simple vehicles with some volume inside too. But the Compass is the vehicle to compete with the Trax, but even the Compass is a class above the Trax. Really Dodge needed to make a Trax competitor, but they failed with the Hornet(starts at 40k?Why compete with the Trax???
Price!!
The Trax is a longer, lower SUV than the outgoing one, and has a profile similar to this new Cherokee…
Take the made-forever 2.4 engine, make it FWD only, and undercut the Trax on price…
Cars just keep getting more expensive…cater to the segment of the population that is buying on price and get your vehicle out there!!
Can’t believe I have to spell this out, c’mon guys!
Danno was referring to a post I made and was being snarky about what I said. No I don't work for Stellantis. See how things get twisted?I thought someone who posted the info worked for Stellantis and had good info. This is one of those things where I am happy to be wrong.
