Stellanis is Trying 2026 Jeep Cherokee

Why would you have a cherokee compete with a trax?
you have compass for that?... or even Renegade?

Trax is good for what it is..... Dodge hornet blows it up though let alone jeep cherokee.

I agree it looks like competition for new Rav4. 2026 will be only hybrid option. I will be interested to see how Toyota prices that one.

Made in Korea Trax price will go up substantially next year. Same for other cheap stuff like Seltos and Renegade.

Yeah, it's not going to go BOF, it's going to be more like a junior JGC, which, based on the success of other marques in the segment, is what's desired. BTW, the 5.7L JGC's have 4-low, but the SRT's don't, lol. I have variable power splitting, and 1st gear is pretty low (4.7:1) as are the pots (3.7:1) and it'll pull the **** out of the world if I put a trailer behind it, but I assume they didn't think anyone was going to use 4-low on the "race" oriented offerings, so it wasn't available.
As SwampSurvivor mentioned, longitudinal engine is the way to go.

I’d be happy with it if that were the case. And a real 4L.

I have a family member with a Renegade that’s got the fake 4x4, it’s just a glorified AWD. Dumbest little thing.

The proper trim renegade was actually pretty capable off road. Short wheelbase, really good break-over angles.

Cherokee trailhawk - it had a 2 speed transfer case and locking rear diff and was also very capable.

Yes, if you buy the base trim your basically getting a FWD car. The vast majority of wranglers never leave the pavement either.

this car really needs to be a comfortable, reliable to 125,000 miles Chrysler. .. So that Stellantis can get some conquest sales. Their customers are all underwater on Dodge products!

Pretty amazing that the Big 3 stink in the biggest non-truck vehicle segment: RAV4 probably outsells Escape + Equinox + non-existent Stellantis product combined.

Nice to have a senior Stellantis product manager on our site, much appreciated.
You been holding out on us?
Respectfully, why not price the vehicle realistically at its actual transaction price rather than create an expectation that your vehicles will be heavily discounted ? I am reminded of those Joseph a banks radio and tv adds where they would say a suit “costs” $750 but that if you buy it today it is $350 and you get three ties, two shirts and a pack of bubble gum on the way out the door. I’m making up the details — you get the idea — but it damages your brand to market that way.

Why compete with the Trax???
Price!!
The Trax is a longer, lower SUV than the outgoing one, and has a profile similar to this new Cherokee…
Take the made-forever 2.4 engine, make it FWD only, and undercut the Trax on price…
Cars just keep getting more expensive…cater to the segment of the population that is buying on price and get your vehicle out there!!
Can’t believe I have to spell this out, c’mon guys!

Yeah that was a little harsh, that's more a RAM thing than Jeep at least here. You work at a dealership right? Have you seen the specs of this new Cherokee?

It's apparently full time AWD with a rear wheel disconnect feature and CVT.

because those pricing games work on a lot of people.

then the same people get confused/shocked that they have negative equity when they want a new car

All trad brands do it. Why pick on one?

True but not to that degree. 25% is a lot. Also my point is from the perspective of owning a Ram 1500. I like the brand and want them to succeed but in marketing you want to be competitive but also protect the value of the brand.

25% is a guess by another poster. Not written in stone. I'm seeing 10% off some products, maybe 15% combining offers. On all trad brands.

I thought someone who posted the info worked for Stellantis and had good info. This is one of those things where I am happy to be wrong. My dad has one of those “POS” 2009 Jeep GC’s with 110k relatively trouble free miles (did a water pump and some pulleys recently, and it has a slow rad leak that will need to be addressed at some point, but nothing unusual for the age) so I write this from the perspective of someone who likes the brand.

I agree with cars getting expensive, and I'd personally just like more simple vehicles with some volume inside too. But the Compass is the vehicle to compete with the Trax, but even the Compass is a class above the Trax. Really Dodge needed to make a Trax competitor, but they failed with the Hornet(starts at 40k?) and now its gone.
I think most Cherokee buyers are hoping its just a smaller Grand Cherokee and almost as nice, with low NVH, and a comfortable interior. Making the basic structure cheap enough to sell a version at low end Trax prices, and be nice enough to charge $45k is probably beyond Jeep's capabilities at this time, and less people would buy the $45k anyways, they'd just go with the base model.
I did LOL when I see the base Compass price here at $37.4k! I have not noticed that they made a new one, and it better be a very very good car to sell many at that price! KIA/Hyundai, Mitsu, Subaru, Mazda, Nissan all make something with AWD within a couple grand of a 2wd Trax. Stellantis has dug a hole for itself, with only RAM and the Wrangler really competing, and they got unlucky with trying to move all their model lines way up in price, at the wrong time.

Too expensive, anemic drivetrain. Jeep name should come with basic off road capabilities. Why would someone but this over a RAV4 CRV, or CX-5?

Danno was referring to a post I made and was being snarky about what I said. No I don't work for Stellantis. See how things get twisted?

At the local RAM/Jeep dealer I've seen new model RAM trucks in the spring discounted from low 50s to lowish 40s and less popular Jeep models similar percentages off. Why deep discount current models in April?

Saw a Hornet in the wild today, 2nd one I've ever noticed.
