OK, so I just hit 1520 miles on the first clean phase. I will be changing the oil this weekend. At around mile 1300, I noticed a sudden and large
amount of oil consumption. I think I ended up adding about 1/2 quart to the crank. I know from previous threads, this may mean that some of the gunk in the ring packs may have been cleaned out.
Anyway, several questions regarding the rinse phase. I'm used to using 10W-40 in the summer. Does oil weight matter in the rinse phase? Can I just use 10W-40, or would 10W-30 do a better job in the rinse phase since it is a little thinner?
Also, I ended up adding the remaining 2oz of AutoRx from the clean cycle into the 6th quart of oil I had left. I did this anticipating some oil consumption and this is the oil I used to fill up the crank after noticing the oil consumption mentioned above. Would it be detrimental to just throw the rest of this bottle (about 1/2 quart mixed with 1oz of Auto-Rx) in with the rinse phase oil? Or should I just use another 5 quarts of non-AutoRx mixed oil?
For both questions, I want the optimal performance from Auto-Rx. Thanks for all replies.
