This is years off, I imagine, but the possibilities are endless. Tesla connectivity via Starlink.
Nobody else even has a charging network. Teslas will be connected anywhere in the world...

"Even in an era where we’re close to completing the 1st quarter of the 21st century, 20% of the United States and 90% of the Earth’s area is not covered by wireless cellular services. This is the gap that SpaceX and T-Mobile are willing to fill up in the coming years with better Starlink satellite coverage."

Tech. Programming. Hardware. So far ahead...

I'm very much looking forward to the improved cell service
There's parts of the country that haven't had steady cell coverage since the AMPS shutdown circa 2008
Of course, Cars/IOT can join the party as well

Curious on the math on the business case.
Currently, Starlink has 400,000+ current subscribers customers, and is working to fulfill 750,000 preorders. Average download speeds are around 75 Mbps to 250 Mbps; don't know about upload, though I assume is 5% to 10% of the download. Average recurring cost is around $110 to $135 / month. The initial outlay for equipment is well under $1000.

So at roughly 400,000 customers today, it's already raking in approx $48M per month in recurring revenue, and that's only coverage a small latitudinal swath of the earth. T-Mobile will also pay Starlink a large figure for its customers to have global coverage.

As this LEO satellite network continues to grow and cover the rest of the planet, its customer base will grow. I wish Elon and company well. Starlink is already a winner in my book.

I can hardly wait for it to cover Alaska. I will be taking it for a test drive.

Agree, total game changer.
Co-worker had terrible internet. Think it was sub-1 Mbps. I encouraged him to apply for Starlink.(prelaunch) He waited 6 months to apply. Was on the Starlink wait list for 18 months. His cell was maxed out on subscribers. Got the email, got it installed.
Loves it.
My question was more on the cell coverage side of the business case.

I'm sure that if T-Mobile's Starlink business case doesn't pan out, there's some kind of pull-out arrangement set within this collaboration.

I wish them both well. I want it to work.

I went to their website yesterday to look at prices/speeds/etc and it was like $725 pay right now to get it ordered. $600 for one-time hardware cost and then the first monthly payment. Decent if you live in the boonies. The in-laws got in on it a few weeks ago due to them living at a remote lake and having no service. They still had DSL interwebs from phone company at like 25mb download.
