staple style plastic welding iron investment?

Just wondering if anyone with older vehicles (20 yrs+) here has bought one of these to repair broken or cracked medium sized engine/interior plastics. Some plastic parts aren't made anymore and boneyard parts are a crapshoot after being baked in the sun and freezing temps too.

I've had great luck with the Astro on bumper covers. Perhaps far from good but good from afar. Very useful IMO
