This Ecore problem reminds me of other issues we have discussed on BITOG. For example, I bet GM engineers were totally convinced that Dexcool was a great coolant that would last for long intervals and provide superior protection. And they probably were right if all engines were maintained perfectly and never had unexpected failures of other components. However, when LIM and UIM gaskets failed and air leaked into systems other ways, suddenly you were facing sludged cooling systems and blown engines. Same with Champ's Ecores. Probably a great design, on paper, but in the real world stuff happens and Ecores don't have the safety margin to handle the stuff.
