ST3593 on a Subaru

The oil filter on the 2.5l engine hangs straight down and the oem/purolator filter does not have an anti-drainback valve. The ST3593 does have an anti-drainback valve. I know this filter is used on many other makes/models. As a matter of fact my other car (89 Isuzu IMark RS) uses the this filter. What are your thoughts on using this filter on an engine that doesn't appear to need that feature and would it do any harm?
