ST16 vs L14670

Less and less filters are still made in the USA. Here's two that still are, for a Ram 4.7L. The ST is $3 at Walmart and the Puro is $4.50 at Menards.The ST media is 1.5" tall, the Puro is 2".
I do not like that the ST cartridge just sits on the leaf spring. It is metal to metal, no seal, and not very snug. I have to imagine unfiltered oil seeps in.
The Puro cartridge is well sealed. If it doesn't tear! I have a Carquest, on my truck, that I think is same as Puro. I will check for tears next OC. If not, then I would pay the extra $1.50 for Puro

If you want more media, consider going stepping up to the Fram PH8A / Purolator 30001 / Wix 51515 sized filters that are about an inch and a half longer.

I agree.
The PH8a has taller media, you get a good seal between the leaf spring and fiber end caps, silicone ADV, good filtering, readily available, cheap, and made in USA.

Thanks guys. I was planning on trying a Wix next time (actually using it before cutting open, since they cost more). I just saw a post, Wix are starting to be made in mexico. I will have to see (what is made where?) In a couple months.
