Not Seattle, but close.
I see that "Deliverance" is on AMC tonight. I won't watch it, but it is funny. The river they used in filming was the Chattooga, which I canoed down while at Outward Bound back in 1978.
I didn't hear any banjos or anybody squealing.

It's not so much an audio sensation ...or so they say

I was too busy trying to keep the canoe upright, and myself inside it, to pay much attention to what might be hiding in the woods. Class III, III+ and some IV rapids.

For 1972 it clearly "pushed the envelope". At that point in time I had not been down south yet and I did make some mental notes to 'self.

Let's not forget John Boorman's 'Zardoz,' which was also groundbreaking. Sean Connery in diapers, with crossed bandoliers over his chest, armed not only with a Webley revolver, but also with a Ron Jeremy mustache.

I've been on many a canoe/camping trips in my day. Mostly North Alabama & South-Central Tennessee. I often chuckle to myself when I think of what would have happened to those "good ole boys" from "Deliverance" if they had tried to pull that nonsense with my group. Between the 4 of us, we always had at least 50 rounds of semi-auto action on our person. Suffice it to say that wavinwayne would not have squealed like a pig for anyone.

The sound of dualing banjos startles me, even today.

Nor are any camping trips planned for Brokeback Mountain.
