Springtime - Who's started yardwork?

Spring has sprung in California's Central Coast Wine Country.

I just did the first coat on 14 shutters. Have 10 more to do and 4 exterior doors.

I didn't feel so great doing them
It's been years..Time for a long overdo heart checkup. The old one was rebuilt 11 years ago.

These shutters are 27 years old and the green turned to yellow after sanding... I did the garage ones too..

I thought about repainting mine but decided it was easier to have a guy replace them.

They look like new!

A tip for you guys that need to do some painting inside or out
Our lady customers used to save nylon stockings for us.

Fresh paint is usually clean unless it's old. This can was 2 years old and clean.

But at the end of the day you put what you have left back in the can and it's no longer clean so you strain it everytime you reuse it.

Go buy a cheap ladies nylon stocking at a dollar store. When you strain into a 1 gallon you use about 6 inches of one leg 🦵 cut with a scissors and tie a tight knot in one end. You can easily hold it and pour by drapping it over one side of your paint can.
Once done keep it by just leaving it in the can and closing the lid over its top. You can reuse it many times.

Save the waist part of the stocking for straining 5 gallon buckets 🪣
Works for oil or latex... Clean paint all the time.

In an earlier time I was also a pro painter but still didn't feel like tackling the job.
I still paint and get great satisfaction doing it.

I painted my way through college, doing paint with one other guy at a 150 - 200 unit apartment. Someone would move out and we'd invade the place and paint the unit (and clean the carpets) in one day. The landlord loved our speed and quality. It was a long day but we made stupid good money doing that work.

Edit: One day my work partner, a big Irishman named Jim, lost it with a misbehaving industrial quality carpet scrubber. I'll never forget how he lost his mind and kicked the crap out of that thing, rendering it useless. I remember just standing there while I watched him stomp it to death. I still LOL at the memory. Hahahahahahahaha!

I have 6 metal doors to wash. Sand, and first coat paint. Same green, the frames are white but i want to get the green out of the way.

Got a fancy vandal proof mailbox to do in green also.

Crabgrass preventer down.

Installed low voltage lights on 4 palm trees. (NOT solar lights)
iPhone sucks with night photos when you want the real look but did the best I could. The brightest one and the second brightest is in-between the closest representation. With the first photo the closest to the true brightness and color.
