I drained out the napa 80w90 GL-everything gear oil out of my 02' nissan ser specv 6 speed , 86k on it. Put in Specialy formulations MTL-P GL-4 75w85 gear oil. The 1st thing I noticed was markedly improved cold shifting, dident have the same hard to get into 1st gear cold problem. It also shifts faster. The napa fluid was too slippery, you had to shift slower. Synchronizers dont much care for overly slippery oil's.

Good to hear that the SF MTL-P works well on the Spec-V's transaxle.

I installed a Faktion SS and have noticed that when my transmission is cold, it is more difficult to shift in to first gear.

As soon as I get finished threadlocking the butterfly screws, I am going to order a gallon of the MTL-P.

BTW, I have a 2005 Spec-V.

Just wanted to chime in with my positive experience on a '90 BMW 325is (175K miles on the car) with a ZF 5 speed.

The previous owner said he had Redline MTL in it. When I drained it, the old MTL looked very used up. The owner's manual specs a GL-4, 80wt.

I only have about 50 miles on SF MTL-P, but what a difference. Shifts are smoother and the synchros seem to just work faster and better.

Just changed out the "lifetime" transmission fluid on the 01 Bimmer, also a ZF5 but they spec ATF so I use the MTFGlide. What a nice change. Much smoother, solid, precise shifting. Even with the CDV still in place (its going soon, trust me) it is easier to match revs/engagement/shift points. Anyone who has driven a late model BMW with a manual trans knows what a pain that can be sometimes. Thanks to the good Dr. Kule for brewing up this stuff

Thanks for the feedback guys.

Since March the 1st, the MTL-P has been upgraded with a dual rating to GL4/GL5 for greater EP protection. This was due to manufacturers specing more GL4/GL5's for their MT's and because more people were using it in transaxle equipped vehicles as well.
