I am an 80s guy and while I do like the tune coz it sounds so 80s, I also resent him for having the ultra success that actual struggling synthwave artists like FM attack, FM-84, Ollie Wride, who are true to the genre for many years before the Weekend rode on the bandwagon and immediately topped the charts, just beause he is The Weeknd. FM Attack made a lot more quality tunes in this genre IMHO.

I usually always hate covers (notable exceptions: Metallica's Turn the Page, FFDP's Bad Company, and especially Lzzy Hale's cover of Girl Crush), and I'm not a fan of most 2010s rock bands, but I have to admit Bad Wolves did a spine-tingling tribute/cover of Zombie. Worth a listen, and if you like rock music, it might change a negative opinion of the song.
