Songs That You Never Understood

From John Lennon's stream of sub·con·scious·ness lyric to Come Together:

He bag production
He got walrus gumboot
He got Ono sideboard
He one spinal cracker
He got feet down below his knee
Hold you in his armchair you can feel his disease
Come together, right now, over me

Just noticed John appears to be referencing himself in this verse
I thought that song was about a quack chiropractor

A little bit off topic, there's a really great song by Dido called "Don't Leave Home". Beautiful song, and the chorus goes:
If you're cold, I'll keep you warm
If you're alone, just hold on
'Cause I will be your safety
Oh, don't leave home

It's a song about drug addiction, but many people ended up using that as their wedding song not understanding what it was about and thinking it was about two people taking care of each other through thick and thin. She felt pretty bad about it from what I read.

When the levee breaks was wrote in the 30's by Memphis Minnie about the great flood of the Mississippi river flood of 1927

"Whiter Shade of Pale" by Procol Harum was loosely based on "The Miller's Tale" in Chaucer's Canterbury Tales.

Martin Luther died in 1546, so was likely gone by the time the song was written. 😉
I assumed it was MLK but doing a little googling you may be right about that, but a German Priest doesn't fit with the others nor does MLK for that matter.

Sister Suzy - reference to Linda
brother John - Linda's brother John Eastman
Martin Luther - one site said the band called Lennon, John Martin Luther Lennon jokingly
Phil and Don - Everly Brothers
Brother Michael - blood brother
Auntie Jin - his aunt
Missed a couple on my original post
Uncle Ernie - Keith Moon
Uncle Ian - Auntie Jin's son

It was always clear to me the song was about going out drinking and taking drugs but having a "bad trip" ending up feeling sadder than before.

Which is absolutely nothing like "The Miller's Tale."

Thanks, I had no idea those references meant anything.
