Note: filter: M1- 104. its a sonata gls 2.4 and I poured in Ceratec 1000 kms into the oil change. there were some short trips and a drive to chicago and back from toronto. sample was taken at dealership during oil change so the method is unknown.should I be worried about sodium and is the silicon from the ceramic based additive ceratec?

Why not shoot the people who make Ceratec an email and ask them if you should be concerned? They'll know if it is related to their product or not. That's what I'd do, they do answer emails and are very good to deal with. Overall a nice report.

Why use Ceratec? Why spend more for a M1 oil filter when the OEM is such a good filter?
With the Hyundai GDI motors, I would be more concerned about managing fuel dilution than wear. These are low wearing engines and the friction modifiers in modern oils will protect it's moving parts just fine. Oils with high sodium, magnesium, or even boron should work well, not to say that QSUD didn't perform well.

I don't know how much boron it's supposed to start with but detectable boron will deplete as an OCI goes on.

One possibility if you didn't see the sample collected; they didn't actually give you oil from your car. Could have forgotten to collect a sample and just grabbed some from another source? Who knows?

I don't know much about Ceratec, but if it truly has 5000ppm Moly, it would show up in a UOA. Even with plating, the Moly levels will be elevated, as they are in Mos2 UOA's.

Did you put Ceratec back in? If so, do another UOA but change the oil yourself or watch the sample being collected. You could also ask Blackstone to retest.

Agreed, dealership must've given you a sample from some another car or you poured certec into the wrong hole....

I think my car would have felt it if it went into the windshield washer or coolant reservoir..

My bet is the Hyundai schoolkid just dipped the bottle in the oil collector pan and gave it to me.
