Hey guys my friend told me that his Camaro has a problem so I was wondering if the best and brightest could help me out. He explained to me that he hears some knocking noise which settles down after it idles but as soon as you bring it up to even 650-700 rpm to move a inch it knocks bad. He also said he smells something burning and a little bit of squealing as well as he noticed a huge loss of power. Now I know its kind of hard to tell what the problem could be from only that discription without looking at the engine but I know a few LS1 owners here if you guys have a clue it would be greatly apreciated.

The fan belt/accessory belt might be going bad. Possibly something got seized up and is causing the belt to slip. Belt tensioner could also be going bad.

I would spray water on the belt to rule it out making the squealing noise.
As to the knocking maybe a engine crank bearing. Could also be an accessory bearing? But that would be hard to say. I will let someone with later Camaro LT1 knowledge comment on that.

Have him check his optispark. (distributor) When they go bad they miss fire or don't fire at all. Mine would backfire that sounded like a bad bearing and it had no power.
