I was reading on a few sites about a test you can do to test the antidrain back/by pass valve. Each site listed the same test, but one said it tested the ADBV and another said it tested the BPV, I personally do not know what on it is.
But anyways, the test is this: you should not be able to blow air into the center hole of the filter, but you should be able to suck air out.
Is there any validity to this test, and what is it actually testing. Just for chitts and giggles I tried it on 3 filters in the garage Fram, P1, and ST. The ST is the only one not to "pass" this test.

Sems like a reasonable test to me. Some folks were performing this test in the aisles of Walmart a couple years ago and got strange looks from other customers.

A pass in this ADBV test is a pass in this oddball homegrown test. A FAIL isn't necessarily a failure as far as when it's in service. An oiled gasket seals much easier than a dry one.

The only way to test a bypass valve is with gauges. It's virtually impossible to do it normally installed on an engine.
