Some 0w Oils compared in a chart

Good thought, but... 1. 0w is not 0-weight. 2. Viscosity index and HTHS should be included; they are at least as salient (especially when given together) as what's shown there. 3. Element counts from UOAs are unreliable.

1. Pardon me 2. O.k. But I think most people are more interested in an oils additive pack. 3. I would have loved to have all VOA's but that was not possible. And since Manufactures will not give out that info UOA's are what is left. They are good for giving a general overview of what they use and roughly how much. Please feel free to do your own chart. I would like to see it.

That's their prerogative, but if it's the case then they're missing out on some of the most important things about engine oil. That's especially true when we're talking about 0w oils: the VI and HTHS viscosity numbers can give you a pretty good idea of how shear-stable they are, whether they're made with good base stocks, and whether they're actually as good on a cold start as people think they are.

The numbers can change during use because of uptake, contamination, etc. What you see in a UOA could be quite different from what you get from the bottle.

To what end?

ZZMan- Thank you for the chart. No need to apologize for anything others would have had in there. Nothing is stopping them for providing any charts.

The one with the highest HTHSV and lowest VI. Of the "true" 20wts that's probabily Amsoil ASM 0W-20 with it's HTHSV of 2.8cP and 166 VI. But the ester based 0W-20's such as RL and RLI are heavier.
