Say farewell to that slow (by 2011 standards) and spark plug eating dinosaur.

Good riddance.

The 5.4 lives on (in 4V trim) in the Shelby. And the 3Vs haven't had spark plugs issues since build date 11/07.

I can't say I mind to see it go. I have a $100 dollar tool in my garage to remove a "piece" of a specific spark plug in a specific motor (a 5.4 3v).

It is one of the dumbest designs in automotive history.

Thoughts?

The old 4.6 2V made 248 HP/294 TQ, which is the engine the 3.7 will be replacing. 3.5s in FWD apps makes more power than that, the 3.7 will definitely make more power but it will give up some torque.

The 5.0L with TiVCT shouldn't give up power to the 5.4 3V anywhere on the curve, if it does it will be minimal and below 3000 rpm.

I want a '11 GT500 so bad.

5.3s have far more start up knock problems than the 5.4 ever did, but less torque.

There's nothing the "Are you sure it has oil in it?" start up hammering with the 5.4.

But thanks anyway. Despite your feeble attempt at deflection, we all see how well the 5.4 worked out for Ford.

When will I ever come to the realization that in the eyes of many, Ford has never once made a mistake?

Start up banging on two F-150's, one a 2004 and one a 2005... that just happened to be randomly sitting side by side in a parking lot?

Yeah... that's truly few and far between. Problem was, they were about 5 foot apart, actually.

Again, I completely understand that you don't think that Ford has ever made any mistakes... there's absolutely no need to convince me otherwise.

Do you often find pots of gold at the end of rainbows or see lightning strike in the same place twice?

The GM Gen III V8 is so "start up knock" free there is a website dedicated to the problem. Go figure.

By the way, where's your 5.4?
