So got my car back from the body shop today after getting the bumper fixed and a few other agreed upon minor scratches from the factory fixed, the interior smells of paint- strongly. I'm guessing it's like new car smell in that it will eventually dissipate. But in the meantime, it is very pungeant. I'm leaving it with all 4 windows cracked about a centimeter tonight to hopefully let it air out a little. The dealer literally got it back from the body shop about an hour before we picked it up, so I dunno. Any tips?

I don't think so. We looked it over from top to bottom, no sign of paint inside, and no noticeable single location of the paint smell- it's just everywhere.

(They did an absolutely fantastic job fixing it though, absolutely no sign anything ever happened, and it actually looks better than ever, I think)

This is normal. When the car was in their building it obviously picked up some paint smell. It'll be gone in a few days.

This.

My truck sat inside of a body shop for nearly a month, with two windows out of it. It was exposed to plenty of everything.

You want to talk about an interior that reeked of paint?

Don't worry about it, and don't try to cover up the smell with something else. Leaving the windows down when you can will help.

The good news is that the smell will go away on its own. If it did on my truck, it will on your car.

That's my favorite part of body work! I like the smell, although I'm sure my liver probably doesn't.

The smell will dissipate as the paint volitizes. Give it a couple of days; park in a warm sunny place with the windows cracked.

Body shops "bake" their paint as well.
