If you like your TV fine. I like my dumb TV. I turn it on and after a couple seconds it's ready for business and displaying whatever I'm sending to it. I don't like slow buggy unnecessary "all in one" products in place of simpler products that do exactly what I want them to do.

I have no need to google. I have no doubt that newer firmware and capabilities slow down equipment. That has always been the case. I deny that it is malicious... There has been enough tech maturation over the past years to leave many yearning for more without some internal "smart" capability getting slow.
And EVERYBODY seems to get that you can do that on ANY TV. Well, everybody -1.

Except for the smaller sets, you can't buy a TV that doesn't have the smart features anymore. If they get outdated, just quit using them and plug a Roku or whatever else in. I'm sure they add minimal/no cost to the set as the app providers probably pay to have their app preloaded on the set.
